Sr. Systems Administrator
Position Overview:
As a Linux Systems Administrator, the ideal candidate will join the team responsible for the entire management lifecycle of SignalDemand systems. This includes, but is not limited to: system capacity (CPU/memory) planning, systems design and integration, hardware / software / OS maintenance for servers and storage systems, ongoing systems configuration management, and ownership of all systems in all data center facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Identification and resolution of hardware, software, or architectural issues in any of the servers and storage systems supporting production instances and/or hosts in order to ensure maximum uptime and service quality and assess trends that may ultimately result in degradation of service.
- Implementing best practices and automation tools/solutions for quicker deployment and support such as Kickstart, admin tools, configuration management and provisioning.
- Formulating and implementing monitoring, policies, procedures and standards relating to server and storage management.
Required Skills:
- BS/BA degree, or equivalent work experience.
- 4 - 6 years Linux Administration experience preferable Red Hat.
- 2+ years in a 24x7x365 high-volume environment.
- Experience with at least one of the major backup packages (NetBackup, etc).
- Candidate MUST have extensive experience working in structured change management processes for highly available enterprise systems.
- Experience building and configuring major Internet host/network services including but not limited to: Web (http, SSL, etc.), Mail, DNS, NFS, LDAP, databases (Oracle, etc.) and Java.
- Experience building servers using jumpstart and kickstart.
- Perl and/or shell scripting.
- Strong communication skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience working in high-volume, terabyte-sized Oracle OLAP environment preferred.
- Hardware training and/or certification in systems and storage management.
- Experience with monitoring tools.
- Experience with high-end SAN storage solutions and storage multi-pathing using storage specific replication technologies.
- Experience with high availability systems and storage solutions / architectures (Oracle Clusterware).
- Solid networking experience - TCP/IP, administration of networking hardware.
- Firewall/security experience - access control list management, secure remote access management practices, IDS, etc.
