Test Software Engineer

Position Summary:

The software engineer will join a highly motivated team working to ensure the quality of the SignalDemand hosted web application and distributed computing platform. Areas of test include boundary conditions (identifying flaws in design and implementation), security (e.g. encryption, denial of service attacks), performance (load balancing, scalability), and SLA (up time, hot swaps).

Responsibilities:

  • Design automated test frameworks to push the limits of the software using innovative techniques.
  • Deliver high quality test software in Java using Objected Oriented programming techniques.
  • Assist in automating and parallelizing test runs so that the quality of the product can be ascertained quickly.
  • Develop mechanisms for deployment of patches to servers in the data center.
  • Assist in identifying performance problems and bugs in production systems.
  • Quickly learn and apply commercial and open source tools and frameworks (e.g. perforce, ant, junit, eclipse, clover, cruise control).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or other engineering discipline with relevant CS course work.
  • Record of high academic achievement (G.P.A) and aptitude (standardized test scores).
  • Demonstrable proficiency in object oriented programming, using C++ or Java and a knack for writing clear, efficient code.
  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis.
  • The rare ability and eagerness to hack into or break the most robust software systems.
  • Understanding of SQL fundamentals.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team towards release milestones.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
